The First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University, located on Datansha Island in Liwan District, is a key provincial and municipal construction project as well as a major initiative aimed at improving people's livelihoods. It spans a total area of 84,900 square meters, with a building footprint of 217,300 square meters. The hospital features 20 floors above ground and 2 basement levels, integrating scientific research, industry-academia-research collaboration, remote consultations, and staff training into a single comprehensive facility.

Under the leadership of Academician Zhong Nanshan, the project will undertake research on the pathogenesis and etiology of sudden, severe respiratory infectious diseases, establishing a comprehensive innovation chain that integrates "clinical diagnosis and treatment, scientific research breakthroughs, product development, technology transfer, and talent cultivation." This initiative aims to fully establish the center as a world-class academic research hub, clinical treatment center, innovation-driven science and technology hub, and premier talent-development institution—standing first-rate domestically and advanced internationally.
